General Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to all offers made by Alpha Sprachwelt AG.
Our Code of Conduct
We always aim to offer you as our client the optimum solution to any unforeseen problems that may occur.
The following apply as legally valid registration:
- the signed offer or the signed course continuation form
- your email, telephone registration or personal registration
- the offer that you confirm online
A legally valid enrolment binds you to pay the course fees. Not paying the course fees does not count as a cancellation.
Money back Guarantee
If you book a half-day intensive course at Alpha Sprachwelt AG for the first time, you can cancel it and withdraw from the course at the end of the first week without costs. The paid course fees will be refunded to you in full. This warranty applies only if you have attended the course every day and the cancellation is communicated to the front office in person at the latest on the last day of week one of the course.
New students may join a course in progress at any time. The course fee is calculated from the actual first date of participation.
Before the end of the course you will automatically receive the course continuation form for the next level. If possible, the courses will be continued at the same time.
A postponement or cancellation of your course will only be accepted up to 14 days before the beginning of the course and will involve a cancellation fee of CHF 100. If you cancel a course between 13 and 8 calendar days of the start of a given course, 30% of the course fee will be owed. From the 7th calendar day before the course start date, you will be expected to pay 80% of the course fee. Once the course has started, no reduction or refund will be given. In cases of serious, unforeseeable exceptional circumstances, an individual solution (credit for a next or later course) may be offered at the discretion of the school management. If a customer has to be absent from classroom instruction due to an order from the authorities, any days lost will be transferred as credit for a course attendance at a later date. The credit is only valid for group courses, but may also be used by another person. After the course start you can change the course type at any time with no extra cost.
For half-day intensive courses: In case of interruptions during the course duration of at least one consecutive course week (Monday to Friday) a deduction will be made from the calculation of the course fee. This suspension must be recorded in writing on the registration / course continuation when registering for the course period in question and the minimum number of participants in the course must not fall below four. Otherwise, missed lessons or course days can neither be retaken nor reimbursed nor deducted.
Cancellation of Private Lessons
We understand that it may occasionally be unavoidable to cancel a private lesson but we ask you to do this within 24 hours of the agreed lesson time. Private lessons which are not cancelled within at least 24 hours’ notice will be charged.
Internal Course Cancellation
Should a teacher be unable to give the lesson, the management of our school reserves the right to organise or appoint a replacement. If this is not possible for any given reason, the course will be postponed and made up for at a later date. In the event that a course cannot be made up, we will credit the student’s customer account with the amount due for the cancelled lessons or we will reimburse you the amount in question.
The school management reserves the right to dispose of any course places that have not been paid for by the beginning of the course. For organizational reasons, the school management also reserves the right to postpone, to divide or to combine classes. In individual cases, it is also possible that, if the minimum number of participants is lower than four, the course will only be carried out with an increase in the course fee or with a reduction in the number of lessons, always with observance of the learning objectives. In special circumstances (epidemic, pandemic etc.) the school reserves the right to switch from face-to-face teaching to online teaching.
Payment Conditions and Credit Notes
If desired, you can pay the course fee in a maximum of 3 instalments. The fee per instalment is CHF 10. Credit notes on your customer account are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. The date of payment indicated on the invoice is binding. We reserve the right to send you a 2nd or 3rd payment reminder respectively including CHF 20 to cover administrative charges and late payment fees.
Course Participation Confirmation and Certificates
A course participation confirmation letter will be issued upon request, on condition that you have attended a minimum of 80% of the course in question. Once you have reached a certain CEFR level and attended at least 80% of the lessons in the course, a course certificate will automatically be given to you.
Text Message and E-mail Communication
We will communicate with you by e-mail or text message if you agree to this. We will use the e-mail address and/or mobile phone number you indicate to us. Text messages will only contain administrative information about courses such as course start dates, times, cancellations and notification of any homework.
